Ferrum College

AccessU was selected to help this more than 100-year-old college create a new identity and style guide that retained the proud heritage of the institution. We also expanded our partnership to help create new dynamic materials for the historic campus to include event planning, campus banners, public relations, and a full suite of alumni relations collateral including the college magazine.

Overview: Ferrum College came to AccessU in a state of crisis. The existing website, which was still in development stage, was riddled with typos and ADA compliance issues. And enrollment had underperformed for numerous years. There was a sense of uncertainty about the college’s future.

Approach: AccessU deployed dedicated teams to concurrently tackle the problems. The Strategic Communications Team focused on uplifting organic social media and elevating news stories on positive wins. The Web Team not only fixed the backend issues, they also streamlined and refined content and created an improved user experience. And the Enrollment Team got to work on crafting an intelligent omni-channel digital media plan and all new creative ads.

Results: AccessU was able to launch the new site in less than 60 days, with performance data showing immediate traction. One year later, Ferrum College celebrated a historic milestone as it welcomed its largest incoming class in seven years, coinciding with the College’s highly anticipated transition to NCAA Division II athletics. This marked a defining moment in Ferrum Rising—a renewed era of academic, athletic, and community excellence. AccessU was proud to play a small role in the College’s resurgence.
