National D-Day Memorial

Artist's rendering of the National D-Day Memorial

Overview: National monuments are not built every day. And fewer still are placed in small rural communities. AccessU faced this unique challenge with traditional as well as innovative fundraising tactics, which included a full-page USA Today ad targeting a single donor (who happened to be Steven Spielberg) and unique presentation tools used to pitch Peanuts’ creator Charles M. Schulz — both of whom made personal gifts. We succeeded in raising the needed funds to dedicate the monument on schedule. Which was good, considering that the president of the United States was a guest.
