Project Overview

Founded in 1938, the National Alcohol Beverage Control Association (NABCA) is the national association representing the Control Systems — those jurisdictions that directly control the distribution and sale of beverage alcohol within their borders. Headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, NABCA serves its members as an information clearinghouse and as liaison to federal, state, and local governments; research groups; public health associations; the media; and other organizations impacting alcohol policy. NABCA’s challenge and AccessU’s goal was to design, develop, and launch a new NABCA website that is clean, simple, and user-friendly in its look, feel, and navigation/operations. The site highlights the NABCA mission and is equipped with enhanced resources for members to increase engagement. The site provides downloadable research documents; e-commerce opportunities using customized order forms; event registration; and secure, members-only content. Members also have a forum for exchanging information. An intuitive CMS with the ability to integrate with a third-party membership platform was an essential deliverable. A thorough research and discovery process, which included focus groups with NABCA leadership and staff, ensured AccessU understood what was important in the new site and how it was to be used.

The staff at AccessU came to our office and interviewed our staff and executive leadership to discover what would be valuable to us. They provided NABCA with several layout options and worked alongside us to design a website that met our needs and had functionality that was not possible prior to the redesign. Recently, NABCA transitioned to a new Association Management System. It was critical that the two structures interact smoothly to deliver a seamless transition from our website to our database platform. The staff at AccessU has been responsive and collaborative through this process.
